Rain
This British Short Hair is good with children, and grown ups a like. She is so sensitive she will come to comfort you when you are crying. Her favorite food is tuna, but she isn't picky. She would do best as an only cat.

Sylvie
Sylvie is an energetic, sweet German Shepherd looking for someone to give her a stable, loving home. She would like an active lifestyle that will give her lots of exercise. She would do best as an only dog, but in return will give more love than a whole pack.

Buddy
Buddy is a full grown Mastiff/Labrador Retriever mix. He is a staff favorite because of his sweet eyes and loving personality. He needs an active lifestyle filled with exercise, but also likes to cuddle and be loved. He is gentle with small dogs, so if you have a dog at home, bring it in to meet him.

Our Friends

Found Animals Foundation is a privately funded 501(c)(3), non-profit organization dedicated to minimizing shelter euthanasia. Found Animals creates programs designed to reduce shelter intake, increase live release rates and focuses on developing cost-effective, scalable, and sustainable animal welfare business models. They also provide SFAS&HS with free microchips, resulting in hundreds of animals being returned safely to their homes.

Santa Fe Tails is an awesome daycare, training center, and pet spa. Owned by Certified Pet Dog Trainers Joey and Hannah Padilla, Santa Fe Tails is one of SFAS&HS's best friends. They do great work for us, and will do great work for you...and your pooch!

PetSmart Charities' mission is to improve the quality of life for all pets by creating and supporting programs that save the lives of homeless pets and promote healthy relationships between people and pets.

They have been a great friend to the programs and projects of SFAS&HS.

Cat Spay of Santa Fe is a program of the Zimmer Foundation, a 501(c)3 private operating foundation established in 1980 and working with cat welfare in Michigan the past 10 years.  They moved to New Mexico in November 2009 and have initiated a cat spay/neuter program here based on what they learned in Michigan. For a better understanding of this program and our reasons behind it, see Cat Spay of Santa Fe.

Make sure you visit our counterparts in Albuquerque the next time you're there—Animal Humane Association is a dynamic group of animal welfare workers making huge strides for animals in New Mexico's biggest city.

Siberian Husky Rescue of New Mexico is an all-volunteer, 501 (c)(3) rescue organization devoted to rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding new, permanent, loving homes for Siberian huskies, and often, husky mixes that have ended up neglected, abused, or unwanted.

Paws and Stripes™ is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization for wounded veterans of our United States military that works to provide service dogs for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury. The service dogs are obtained only from shelters, including the Santa Fe Animal Shelter, and are trained by professionals specializing in service dogs. It is the aim of this organization to provide these dogs and training for no cost to the veteran
